Evanston chiropractor, chiropractic Evanston and Chicago

Dr. Jeffrey S. Kurtz joined Wellspring in June of 2004 after practicing for two years in Arlington Heights, Illinois. During his tenure there he worked with orthopedic surgeons helping surgical and nonsurgical patients resolve their pain and rehabilitate their injuries.

Dr. Kurtz attended the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois for his professional education. Previously he earned and worked in physical therapy, specifically with chronic pain and fibromyalgia patients. When Dr. Kurtz isn't treating patients, he works as a personal trainer and teaches abdominal exercise classes at a local gym. He also enjoys soccer, hockey, and weight training for fun and improved health.

Areas of expertise and postgraduate education include nutrition and detoxification, foot orthotics and biomechanics, manipulation under anesthesia, applied kinesiology, and digestive disorders.

It is proven that in every disease condition, there is a nutritional component that needs to be addressed. Dr. Kurtz uses organic whole food supplements in concert with chiropractic to resolve health problems and prevent future recurrences. Detoxification is a great way to rid your body of all the toxins that accumulate in the body from contaminated air, water, and food. It is also a great way to lose weight and keep it off. Dr. Kurtz will help you through the 3-week program that will restore high energy levels and change your attitude about food for life!

State of the art foot orthotics can dramatically change a person's walking pattern and thus resolving problems from the big toe to the TMJ (temporalmandibular joint). Orthotics resolve plantar fascitis, Morton's neuroma, bunions, knee and hip pain, and back/neck pain. Dr. Kurtz has had several pairs over the years and can tell you the difference they have made for his foot, knee, and low back pain.

Manipulation under anesthesia is a procedure derived in the 1930's for chronic pain conditions. It is an excellent alternative when traditional conventional and alternative medicine have failed or helped only minimally. Conditions like fibromyalgia, failed back surgeries, and disc herniations respond very well to MUA. It also works very well for the patient who cannot relax during an adjustive procedure. This situation may develop from long-term spasm/tightness where the patient cannot consciously turn off the muscles to relax.

Applied kinesiology (AK) is a technique that uses functional neurology to diagnose and treat health conditions. It uses the body's nervous system to determine where the problems are. Through this technique digestive problems can be diagnosed as well as structural problems. Once the problem is accurately located and diagnosed, a treatment plan can be derived and applied.

With Dr. Kurtz you can expect comprehensive alternative healthcare to meet all your healthcare needs. Through strong 1 on 1 interaction, the doctor addresses the structural, nutritional, and mental components of disease conditions. Optimum health is about lifestyle change and it is the goal of Dr. Kurtz to help you achieve the level of health that will improve your quality of life for many years to come.
